Computers and the web let us automate so many things. Some of them quite wrong headed.
Have you been flooded with stupid link requests lately?
I’ve been getting far too many emails apprising me that Site X of his and Site Z of mine have in common:
- Allergies
- Delaware
- Suburban Development
- Offshore Investment
The best part is the long, long bit that explains to me why link exchanges are important. As if I don’t know what Google Page Rank is about.
Even if they lack that bit of regurgitated salesmanship I know that whatever he may think I’ve never written anything about Tornado Insurance and that he’s just a pest.
I suspect most webmasters delete them barely read. But a few naïve souls probably send a sincere reply back asking them why they think their sites have this topic in common. Or just flattered by the link request.
