Like me you have found some of your self-indulgent sidebar content interfering with your AdSense ads: sending Google the wrong signals.
So I was glad to discover the recently added page section targeting markup for AdSense.
<!– google_ad_section_start –>
Tells Google’s Mediabot where your relevant words start. And there’s a similar end tag.
Likewise
<!– google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) –>
Tells Google that it shouldn’t take this bit of frivolity or generic page filler into account.

See my post for clarification from Google, on the proper usage of Adsense Targeting.
Right:
<head>
Don’t put the tags here.
</head>
<body>
Within these only.

Gee, and I’d been having so much fun seeing what they’d advertise next! Thanks for the tip.
Peace,
Tor
